Hi Lulia, I traveled the Southern Atlas and all the way down to the desert close to the Algerian border in April last year. No problem at all. The border has been closed for years and is guarded at several points. We often travel to Morocco – 2/3 times a year – and feel very safe.

However, as there is no snow in the Anti-Atlas, you can still enjoy mountain life during Dec-Feb, with sunny days and cold nights. If you can handle hiking in the heat, July and August are hot, but not off-the-scale desert madness like the rest of Morocco.
